Subject	water below trunk vents. HELP!!!

Message	Thanks for looking. First I want to say that I did search already.Sort of helpful,but not enough. I have my interior panels out to install sound dampening material and noticed the air vents on the sides. I now know what their purpose is but while I was looking closely at them I saw water siting in the body panel below the antenna. I also noticed that I could see a little of my driveway through an opening by the vent. No its not a rust hole! My question is, am I missing sheiding or plastic in the wheel well or is this normal? If it is normal to see through the car,then why did nissan decide to make these vents? Any help would be appreciated! P.S. I posted in general to get a more timely response, sorry for the inconvenience.
